When Eric Woodard accidentally moved to Nashville in 2013, he didn’t really have plans to put all of Music City’s craft beers under one roof in a laid back hang out in a farmers’ market. Instead with the few dollars he had saved, Eric decided to try his hand at real estate – so he bought an old fixer upper on the city’s south side and spent the Winter of the Polar Vortex polishing hard wood floors and refurbishing old ceiling joists…and making notes to self about the surprising number and incredibly diverse offerings of Nashville’s booming craft beer scene…

Alas, when the weather broke in the Spring, the luck of the Irish brought to Eric an offer to buy the old house (now fabulously remodeled) upon which he had staked his infant daughter’s college fund, and with the wind at his back he decided to celebrate. So with a pocket newly full of hard won cash and hungry for adventure (ok just hungry), Eric headed over to German Town to checkout a place he’d heard of that had a hundred-and-one (15) restaurants with eclectic fare including Jamaican, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Indian, Korean, Mediterranean…and yes good ole American Burgers and BBQ too.

So you can imagine his surprise when among the fabulous food stops, Eric saw a bustling crowd, a bevy of comfort food, but not a drop of brew.  As he headed for the door, a sign posted by Market Management seeking new restaurant concepts to fill the empty stalls caught his eye, and the rest is history.  Eric put his idea for an all local craft beer tap room and growler fill down on paper in the form of a business plan and quickly landed meetings with the Market’s Board of Directors.  In record time The Picnic Tap was constructed, stocked and open for business!

So if you are into local and want to experience all of Nashville’s craft breweries at once, come on by for a couple of pints, a flight, or a growler to go!  Our taps are always changing, but we promise we’ll always have a wide variety of Nashville’s best seasonal specials, limited releases, and old favorites.
